Introduction

The following information is intended for individuals who wish to join the club as a full member to understand, at the outset, the pros and cons of becoming a member and the responsibilities that attend such membership.

What is Altcar Rifle Club?

It is first and foremost a TARGET RIFLE & F-CLASS RIFLE CLUB. It is also a private members club which operates under the auspices of the Home Office and the National Rifle Association.
As we are a strict target shooting club we do not allow sporting rifles or tactical rifles.

If you are only interested in shooting a sporting, tactical or air rifle then there may be other clubs that can better cater for your needs. Altcar Rifle Club does not accept members who only wish to become involved in these aspects of shooting and express no or little interest in regularly practising and becoming proficient at competitive target rifle shooting.

 If you have an unspent criminal conviction you will not be allowed to hold a firearms certificate and there is little point in applying to become a probationary member.

We have a club house on Altcar ranges near Hightown, Liverpool and shoot on most  Sunday afternoons throughtout the year,  where we hold target rifle and f-class club competitions at 300, 500 and 600 yard targets. Occasionally there is the opportunity to shoot out to 1000 yards. 

For newcomers to the sport you will be taught the safe handling of firearms and progress, with those more experienced, to attain the level of safety that is required to a apply for the NRA (National Rifle Association) SCC (Shooter Certification Card) that allows you to shoot  on Altcar ranges without one to one supervision.
